In industrial production facilities and large-scale commercial operations, water quality directly determines the quality of production and the lifespan of equipment. Clay, silt, sand, soil, and organic matter present in water from natural sources or the mains cause unwanted turbidity and physical contamination in the water. Sand filter systems are the first and most critical line of defense in the water treatment process.

These systems are one of the most reliable engineering solutions that protect your facility from clogging, wear, and capacity loss by removing physical particles from the water.

What is a Sand Filter System?

Industrial sand filters are advanced filtration units consisting of pressurized tanks that can filter water down to a precision of 20 to 40 microns. However, contrary to popular belief, these tanks are not simply filled with ordinary sand.

Our company’s systems utilize Multi-Media Filtration technology. Anthracite, quartz sand, and gravel layers, selected according to the characteristics of the water, are arranged inside the tank according to a specific engineering calculation. This ensures that sediments are captured not only on the surface of the filter but throughout the entire bed depth. This “depth filtration” feature extends the filter’s clogging time and maximizes purification efficiency.

How the System Works

Sand filters, one of the longest-lasting industrial water treatment systems, operate on a simple yet highly effective physical filtration principle.

  1. Service Position: Raw water enters the tank from the top of the filter and is evenly distributed across the media surface via special diffusers. As the water filters down through layers of anthracite and quartz sand of varying sizes, the sediment and particles it contains are trapped between these layers. The completely clarified water is collected from the bottom diffusers and delivered to your facility.
  2. Automatic Backwashing (Regeneration): Sand filters that retain sediment for days become dirty over time and pressure loss (differential pressure) increases. At this point, the Automatic Valve or PLC control panel on the device activates. The water flow direction is reversed from bottom to top. All retained sediment and dirt are expelled through the waste water line as the media bed is agitated. The system cleans itself without human intervention, completes the rinsing process, and returns to service.

Applications of Industrial Sand Filters

Thanks to our flexible capacity options, our systems can be integrated into the needs of a wide range of industries:

  • Pre-Treatment Before Reverse Osmosis Systems
  • Cooling Towers and Boiler Feed Water Lines
  • Textile and Dyeing Factories
  • Food and Beverage Production Facilities
  • Well Water and Surface Water (Lake, River) Treatment
  • Large-Scale Agricultural Irrigation Systems
